Getting started with dinnerfox
Ten minutes of setup, then dinner mostly runs itself.
🎟️ 1 · Open your invite link
dinnerfox is invite-only. Your invite link (it looks like app.dinnerfox.com/start/…) sets up your household: pick a name, your timezone, and enter your own name and email — you'll be the first chef.
📱 2 · Put it on your home screen
dinnerfox is a web app that installs like a normal app. On iPhone: open it in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android: Chrome will offer “Install app”. From then on, open it from the icon — that also unlocks notifications on iPhone.
👨👩👧👦 3 · Invite the family
Settings → Family: add each member (kids too — nicknames are fine), mark who cooks as a chef, and send everyone their personal join link. One tap on their own phone and the app knows who's rating, requesting and voting. No passwords.
🔔 4 · Turn on notifications
Everyone taps 🔔 on their profile page (the name chip, top right). That's how @mentions, “start cooking” nudges and timed reminders arrive. Email works as a fallback for anyone who skips it.
🕕 5 · Teach it your week
Settings → Weekly routine: dinner time per night, how long there is to cook, busy nights (football = freezer night), who's usually out, the usual chef. You do this once — every week after, the planner already knows Tuesday is chaos.
🍽️ 6 · Load a few meals
Meals → Import from recipe URL pulls the name, ingredients, serves and cooking time straight from any recipe page. Or add family classics by hand. A dozen meals is plenty to start — ratings will grow the library from there.
🦊 7 · Live the loop
Plan the week (tap the usual, or ask for a recommendation) → generate the shopping list (aisle-sorted, staples pantry-checked) → shop in big-tap mode → everyone rates dinner. The fox learns what your family loves and plans get smarter every week.
🎙️ Bonus · Add by voice
Settings → Voice & automations: a 5-minute Siri Shortcut gives you “Hey Siri, dinnerfox — milk”, and there's a guide for wiring up an Echo. Items land on the list already filed into the right aisle.
